Change your footwear

Whether you are a trainers or flip flop girl during the day, simply changing your footwear will give your maxi a new lease of life for the evening. Heels or stylish sandals will elevate your look instantly.

Add jewellery

A statement necklace is the perfect way to add interest to a basic maxi and will enable you to transition from your day to night look with minimal effort.

Style your hair

A ponytail by day and flowing locks or a stylishly messy up-do for the evening – what could be simpler?

Swap your accessories

Your trusty tote might be perfect for shopping or running errands, but it might not be glam enough for a night on the town. Swap your everyday bag for something sparkly or beaded to add interest to your maxi.

Layer with a blazer

Depending on the style of your maxi, a well-chosen blazer can really enhance your look; for example, team a purple maxi dress at AX Paris with a soft white blazer for a fashionable look. Choose a relatively lightweight and draping blazer rather than something more tailored to look both sophisticated and summery. You will be grateful for the extra layer if it is an outdoor event and the temperature dips when the sun goes down.

Lose layers

Opposite to the above tip but a must if you are going straight from work to your event, remove layers before heading out. Lots of casual maxi dresses look great with T-shirts under them for daytime wear, which is perfect if you don’t want to show too much skin at work or if the air con keeps things chilly. Lose the T-shirt from under your strappy maxi before you go out and you will be instantly party-ready.
